Graduate Assistant Counseling Programs

1 full-time (20 hours) or 2 half-time (10 hours) positions; preferred availability Wednesdays and Thursdays

Primary Purpose

The primary purpose of this GA position is to support the graduate counseling programs’ academic and operational goals, and specialized projects.

Duties and Responsibilities

During 2025-26, the Counseling programs GA would provide the following support:

  • Continue and expand initiatives to reduce mental health stigma
  • Coordinate the program mentoring initiatives
  • Continue and expand initiatives to build a sense of community among graduate students
  • Provide support to CACREP accreditation requirement
  • Assist with monitoring and improving practicum and internship placement processes
  • Create and disseminate the counseling newsletter
  • Support Graduate Expo, outreach, and other information sessions
  • Facilitate faculty/student collaboration for the Counseling honors society, Chi Sigma Iota.
  • Ongoing data collection and analysis (e.g., graduate surveys, employer surveys) for continuous program improvement

Qualifications

Required

  • Accepted degree candidate enrolled full-time
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.)

Preferred

  • Experience working with outreach activities
  • Degree in counseling or related field
