Why World Languages Education? | Why Our Program?

  • With a growing number of English language learners in RI schools and increased interest among many native English speakers for learning a second language, multilingual teachers are in high demand.
  • Students choose one of three concentrations, so our graduates are eligible for full certification to teach world languages in French, Portuguese, and/or Spanish in all grades (pre-K-12) in RI.
  • Along with coursework, students engage with local language communities through multiple field placements in K-12 and community-based settings.
  • Topics covered in the include: Educational psychology; linguistics; applied grammar; special education; teaching emergent bilinguals; student teaching.

The Â鶹ԭ´´ Advantage

World Languages Education students are encouraged to study abroad for a semester and Â鶹ԭ´´â€™s Shinn Study Abroad Fund offers generous financial support to do so.
